Solana Beach, CA - The Solana Beach Schools Foundation (SBSF) hosted its second annual Major Donor Reception at The Clubhouse at Pacific Highlands on May 15. The event honored families that contributed at the Major Donor level as part of the SBSF’s Major Donors Program and its SBSF Business Partners.
Among those in attendance at Wednesday’s event were Solana Beach School District’s (SBSD) Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Burks, Board of Education Trustees Gaylin Allbaugh and Dr. Katie Süel, and SBSF President Paige Sawyer Shum. This year’s Business Partners include Platinum level donors: American Assets Trust, Coughlan & Vinel LLP, and Mission Pest Control; and Silver level donor, The Rockademy.
The reception also provided an opportunity to celebrate Discovery Labs, the additional weekly enrichment classes offered to all students in the SBSD. The SBSF raises funds to help support Discovery Lab classes, including STREAM, Art, Technology, and supplemental Physical Education.
SBSD is proud to offer hands-on, inquiry-based learning opportunities for all students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Families often cite the schools as a reason for choosing to live within the district's borders. Krista Kshatriya, a Solana Pacific Parent shares, “As major donors to the Solana Beach Schools Foundation, we are proud to be part of a community of families dedicated to providing extraordinary learning opportunities for all our children. We especially like that our financial contribution directly funds instructor salaries and supplies. We are amazed at how the Discovery Labs nurture our children’s intellectual development to become curious, creative, hard-working, physically, and emotionally fit people, preparing them to excel in college and beyond.”
Donations to the SBSF help create a rich learning environment with diverse educational opportunities. Every donation is an investment in the future of students and education at SBSD schools. Donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible through solanabeachkids.org. Report by Valerie Charat, SBSF Executive Director
